La mayoría de este tipo de fotografías de tipos populares de las diferentes regiones españolas, fuerón tomadas por J. Laurent y Cía dentro de los festejos con motivo de las celebración de la boda del rey Alfonso XII y María de las Mercedes en Enero de 1878.

El archivo de negativos de Laurent fue vendido a José Lacoste y Borde alrededor de 1900, quien realizó nuevas ediciones apartir de los antiguos negativos, incluídas series costumbristas postales, como la que se muestra.
