Doris Kloster - Taschen

There's fetish photography, and there's fetish photography. At a time when even mainstream magazines run features on leather and rubber, Doris Kloster's photos go one step further. She does not break taboos for the sake of provocation alone. Instead, her semi-documentary work shows the many facets of the highly stylized ritual of sado-masochism. Doris Kloster's photos lead us into a world of lust on the brink of the abyss, revealing the true image of a cult.

Doris Kloster studied art history and has been a freelance photographer since 1983. She publishes regularly in magazines and has exhibited her work internationally. She also designs book and record covers, and is co-founder and executive editor of FAD magazine.
