  KITAWA UTAMARO (1753-1806) UKIYO-E MUJER SOPLANDO UNA PIPA DE CRISTAL

  Grabado de Kitagawa Utamaro,autor del estilo de grabado japonés ukiyo-e. Soporte en delicado papel nacarado.Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806) se recreó inicialmente en los carteles para anunciar actuaciones teatrales y burdeles o así como también semblanzas de actores,cortesanos y geishas,para posteriormente centrarse en la búsqueda de la belleza femenina. En el caso que nos ocupa se presenta una obra de género costumbrista con la figura femenina como protagonista. Las dimensiones de la misma son  22,5x32,5 cm.

El Ukiyo-e es el nombre dado a los grabados japoneses que se realizaban en Edo,nombre  de Kioto. Ukiyo alude al "mundo flotante" de las situaciones cambiantes, y la palabra japonesa -e significa "pintura",de manera que ukiyo-e se traduce como "pinturas del mundo flotante"
