In Reflections, Dr. Stephen Kaufman, M.D., distills over six decades of medical practice, psychological insight, and personal experience into a profound and varied collection of writings. Spanning from 1963 to 2025, this compilation moves beyond technical medical papers to offer readers an intimate look into the mind of a seasoned pediatrician and pediatric endocrinologist.
Divided into thoughtfully curated sections, the book explores:
The Foundations of Development: Deep dives into genetics, the intrauterine environment, and the beginnings of human life, woven with insights from psychological pioneers like Freud and Erikson. The Pediatrician?s Practice: A fascinating historical and clinical look at childhood illnesses, the triumph of immunizations, and ongoing public health challenges. Navigating Childhood & The Family: Pragmatic, compassionate advice on parenting, dealing with ADD and hyperactivity, nutrition, and addressing the complexities of raising healthy children in an unpredictable world. Personal Memoirs, Satire, and Stories: A delightful hodge-podge of short stories, humorous satires, travel writings, and poignant essays that showcase Dr. Kaufman?s literary voice and unique perspective on life, aging, and society.
