A fair objection, taken seriously: is a test built for one kind of claim rigged against every text that makes a different one?
Readers of The Authentication Test raised it, and this book exists because the objection was fair. Run a fingerprint test on a scripture that claims a hundred hands, or none, and of course it fails - but it has failed the test, not the truth. A method that cannot tell those apart is not a method.
So the same test is not run twice. This book begins by sorting the world?s scriptures by the claim each makes about its own origin - dictated speech, composite authorship, no author at all, deliberate anthology, remembered teaching, the words of a sage - and tests each only against the claim it actually makes, never faulting a text for failing to be something it never said it was.
The sorting is not an evasion of the verdict. It is the precondition of a fair one.
What emerges is a map: the whole field, class by class, each tradition?s claim reported in its own terms and tested on its own ground. The Vedas as heard, not composed. The Hebrew scriptures as a library assembled across centuries. The Gospels as remembered testimony. The Buddhist canon as teaching preserved by councils. The Quran as speech that claims a single, non-human speaker. Each is held to what it says of itself.
Consider how an investigator handles six witnesses who each describe a different event. He does not fault the second for failing to corroborate the first. He asks whether each account is consistent with itself, with the record, and with the kind of thing it claims to be - and he reports where an account is more modest than its reputation, as well as where it claims more than it can show.
Where a scripture is examined searchingly, it is because its own claim invited it.
And where the same examination was turned on the most modest claims, it found in them a candour it had not expected, and takes care to honour it. The book declines, at the end, to settle the central question for you. That is stated plainly, and defended: the map shows where each road leads; it does not walk the road on your behalf.
Written by Abdul Zahir Sheikh, a Certified Fraud Examiner and Senior Partner at BDO East Africa with four decades of investigative experience across fourteen countries, this is the book that gives every tradition the hearing its own claim deserves - and shows what one forensic test reveals when it is applied fairly across the whole field, rather than to one text alone.
Six kinds of claim. One standard of fairness. The last step is yours.
