Saul Bellow nació en 1915 en Lachine y se educó en Chicago. Tras estudiar en la Universidad de Chicago se licenció en Sociología y Antropología en la Northwestern University. Entre sus obras figuran The Victim Seize the Day Henderson The Rain King The Adventures of Augie March Herzog y Mr Sammler´s Planet las tres últimas de las cuales fueron galardonadas con el National Book Award for Fiction.
