En 1917 empezó a usar el término holandés Nieuwe Beelding, y utilizó por primera vez el término en esta publicación. Fue generalizándose su uso como término que describía las teorías de arte de Mondrian y su estilo pictórico en que una cuadrícula, delimitada con líneas negras, estaba rellena con bloques de colores primarios. NEO-PLASTICISME term coined by Piet Mondrian. In 1917 Mondrian began using the Dutch term Nieuwe Beelding, meaning something like ‘new forming’, and he first used the term in this book. It gained currency as a descriptive term applied to Mondrian’s theories of art and to his style of painting, in which a grid, delineated by black lines, was filled with blocks of primary colour.
