Skullduggery is a 1970 American science fiction film directed by Gordon Douglas, produced by Saul David, and starring Burt Reynolds, Susan Clark and Edward Fox.
The screenplay is based on the French novel Les Animaux dénaturés (1952) (variously titled in English as You Shall Know Them, Borderline, and The Murder of the Missing Link) by Jean Bruller (writing under the pseudonym "Vercors").
On an expedition in Papua New Guinea, the Tropis, a tribe of apelike creatures, are being used as slaves by humans. When one of the Tropis is allegedly murdered, the following murder trial centers round the question of whether the Tropis a form of human or animal.
Burt Reynolds is an actor from the 1950s to present. He is partially of Cherokee Indian ancestry, and he had his first major success as the character Quint, the "half-breed" on TV's popular "Gunsmoke". Some of his movie roles include: Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance, Boogie Nights, and The Longest Yard. In April of 1972, right after he made Deliverance, Reynolds posed for a nude centerfold for Cosmopolitan Magazine, which was a MAJOR sensation at that time (although the photo was "tastefully" arranged so that there was not complete nudity)! He is well known for his romantic relationships with Sally Field and Dinah Shore, and his marriage to Loni Anderson.
