Elio (136-138) - As

Anverso: L AELIVS CAESAR, cabeza desnuda a la derecha.

Reverso: TR POT COS II S C, Fortuna-Spes de pie a la izquierda, sosteniendo flor, cornucopía y timón.

Referencia: C. 57 (AE g. 11,51)

Lucio Elio César fue un noble romano adoptado por el emperador Adriano en 136 d.C. como su sucesor designado, aunque nunca llegó a gobernar.

Nacido alrededor del 101 d.C. como Lucio Ceyonio Cómodo, pertenecía a una familia consular y fue nombrado César tras la muerte de otros candidatos. Sirvió como cónsul en 137 d.C. y comandó en Panonia, pero su salud frágil lo limitó.

Murió el 1 de enero de 138 d.C. por causas naturales (posible hemorragia), a los 36 años, lo que obligó a Adriano a elegir a Antonino Pío como emperador. Su breve rol marca la inestabilidad en la sucesión hadrianea.
