Presentamos una navaja de tipología aplanada con anilla, un objeto que nos transporta al siglo XIX y nos habla de la rica historia de la cuchillería europea.

Su procedencia probable es Thiers, Francia, un lugar conocido por su tradición en la fabricación de navajas.

La navaja tiene una longitud total de 41,7 cm, con una hoja de 19,5 cm. La hoja, de tipo albaceteño, se caracteriza por una caída a modo de contrafilo que ocupa la mitad del lomo, otorgándole un perfil distintivo.

El cabo, de tipo aplanado y forma hexagonal, presenta una virola de latón con forma de flor de lis, un detalle elegante y distintivo. Las cachas, elaboradas en asta de toro, están decoradas con un fino trabajo de pirograbado: por un lado, flores con hojas y por el otro, un lobo y una flor con hojas. En el centro del cabo, encontramos una pieza rectangular de latón, y en el rebajo, una anilla que permite atar la navaja con una cuerda al forro de la chaqueta, un detalle práctico para llevarla cómodamente.

Este tipo de navajas eran muy populares en España, ya que se producían para exportación en el sur de Francia, siguiendo los gustos y necesidades del mercado español. La navaja se encuentra en buen estado general, lo que habla de su calidad y durabilidad.

The handle, of a flattened type and hexagonal shape, has a brass ferrule in the shape of a fleur-de-lis, an elegant and distinctive detail. The scales, made of bull horn, are decorated with fine pyrography work: on one side, flowers with leaves and on the other, a wolf and a flower with leaves. In the centre of the handle, we find a rectangular piece of brass, and in the recess, a ring that allows the knife to be tied with a rope to the lining of the jacket, a practical detail for carrying it comfortably.

This type of knife was very popular in Spain, as it was produced for export in the south of France, following the tastes and needs of the Spanish market. The knife is in good general condition, which speaks of its quality and durability.
