Gilt edges. Illustrated with 65 figures drawn by Manuel Borbalo Pinheiro (1867-1920), famous Portuguese illustrator, potter and cartoonist, as well as creator of comics and posters. Son of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro and nephew of Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro. Copy with a long dedication of the author on the half title to Captain António José Garcia Guerreiro, dated 1896; also presents a modern ex-libris of the collection of J. Pinto Ferreira. The author was teacher and fencing master of Kinf D. Carlos of Portugal.
