First edition of the French translation of one of Newton´s masterpieces, illustrated with 14 engraved leaflets (9 in the first volume and 5 in the second), and various ornamental elements. The work states Newton"s laws of motion, forming the foundation of classical mechanics, also Newton"s law of universal gravitation, and a derivation of Kepler"s laws of planetary motion (which Kepler first obtained empirically).
