Portaminas o portalápiz de la prestigiosa marca británica S. Morgan & Co.

Sampson Mordan fué un platero británico coinventor del primer portaminas mecánico patentado.

En 1822 Mordan y su co-inventor John Isaac Hawkins presentaron la primera patente de un lápiz de metal con mecanismo interno para impulsar la mina de grafito durante su uso.

Desde 1837 después de disolver la asociación Morgan continuó vendiendo sus lápices de plata como "S. Mordan & Co", solía fabricar sus lápices con formas extravagantes, ahora, al igual que su resto de platería y orfebrería, los lápices son objetos de colección.

Tras su muerte en 1843, sus hijos heredaron la empresa y continuaron fabricando platería hasta 1941 cuando su fábrica fue destruida por las bombas durante el bombardeo de Londres.
