«Review 3» is a summary of the attitudes to housing which are now influencing the work of the GLC Architect's Department. The first half concentrates on the product and provides a full record of the GLC exhibition «New Directions in Housing» which opened at the Design Centre in February 1977 and which is subsequently being shown i: Greater London and abroad. We are glad to acknowledge the involvement of the British Council in preparing the exhibition. A special set has been prepared for the British Council which will tour extensively in Western Europe and other parts of the world.

The second half of «Review 3» concentrates on the process. It continues the character of «Review 2» with articles contributed by senior members of the department. The subjects chosen reflect our current concern with design, technology and management in housing architecture. The article on data for management by John Cairns may well be of wider interest, for instance to those who deal with local government management, as well as to architects.

The attitudes and ideas described in «Review 3» have been evolving over a long period of time, some of them since the mid 1960's. We think that a new sense of direction is emerging, but we are still faced with many very difficult problems. We would like to have as much open communication as possible with others who are trying to find solutions and we hope that «Review 3» will help towards that end.

«Review 3» es un resumen de las actitudes hacia la vivienda que ahora influyen en el trabajo del departamento de Arquitecto GLC. La primera mitad se concentra en el producto y proporciona un registro completo de la exposición GLC «Nuevas direcciones en la vivienda» que se abrió en el Centro de diseño en febrero de 1977 y que posteriormente se muestra en Londres y en el extranjero. Nos complace reconocer la participación del Consejo Británico en la preparación de la exposición. Se ha preparado un conjunto especial para el Consejo Británico que recorrerá ampliamente en Europa occidental y otras partes del mundo.
