He was the scourge of the English Eighth Army. Despite being starved of all support and supplies he fought the English to a standstill until the lack of supplies made his North Africa campaign a losing proposition. He then went back to Germany, where loyalty to his country, rather than the High Command ie., Hitler, caused him to attempt to assassinate Hitler. He was summarily executed. But his legend still lives. Softening to the backstrip edges with bumping and rubbing and fraying of the book corners. The underlying board is visible to the top right-hand corner of the front panel and lower corner of the same panel. Rubbing, marks and some fading to the cloth of the boards and there has been almost complete fading of the gilt titles to the backstrip. Some foxing to first and last few pages.
