Barbie and Skipper have some frightening experiences when they go on a trip to explore the desert with the two sons of the family they are visiting in southern California. Searching for help when their car breaks down, they come upon a deserted mining town - Ghost Town, U.S.A. The menacing quiet that surrounds the dilapidated houses is shattered by a pistol shot - and then their adventures begin. After meeting some very strange characters and being forced into many dangerous and exciting situations, they solve the mystery that haunts the old abandoned gold mine.
