La escritora Elena Fortún y la pianista y compositora María Rodrigo, decididas a conservar las canciones de corro y los romances que oían cantar a los niños y niñas de Madrid, elaboran este precioso libro en el año 1934. Acompañan el texto las bellas ilustraciones de Gori Muñoz, reproducidas en su totalidad en esta edición facsímil. Es fácil imaginar a Rodrigo y a Fortún en la Plaza de Santa Ana o en el Retiro, sentadas en un banco o deteniéndose en un paseo para escuchar los cantos de la chiquillería en una tarde de sol. Camino del Lycéum Club en el que tantas veladas pasaron ambas, irían dando forma a este cancionero recopilatorio, recibido muy positivamente por la crítica y recuperado hoy en toda su belleza.
