Curioso sello emitido en 1875 para el servicio postal de Cuba y las Antillas españolas, conocidos como territorios de ultramar. Es interesante observar que el escudo de España que aparece en el sello, no tiene los símbolos de la Casa de los Borbones ( las tres flores de lis ) a pesar de que 1875 se restauró la monarquía con Alfonso XII, tras el fin de la I República Española el 29 de Diciembre de 1874. Es por lo que la tesis más probable es que este sello hubiese sido impreso durante las últimas semanas de la Primera República en 1874, para ser utilizado en 1875 y que ya no fuera retirado de circulación postal, a pesar del cambio de régimen.
