Encuadernación:  Publiisher's illustrated boards. This is the first Spanish edition of Bannerman's classic (and controversal) children's book. Dobias's illustrations for the 1927 New York edition appear only to have been reused for the Japanese, and this Spanish editions. Dobias follows earlier illustrators in converting Bannerman's Indian (possibly Tamil) Sambo into an Afro American "pickaninny", a concept which Langston Hughes considered to be hurtful to black children. This Afro American reidentification has been followed by the numerous subsequent Spanish illustrators.
