1. Advance Proof Copy, wrappers as issued, 19 x 16cm.,397 pages printed on one side only.Richard Adams's own copy with six minor corrections by him in ink. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY ADAMS on the titlepage, "...an imperfect copy but an early one..." 2. The Suppressed issue with 'Käthe Guetner' as the girl's name and with the publisher's imprint on the titlepage. This printing was withdrawn before official distribution had been completed. SIGNED BY ADAMS on the title page. 3. The first published edition or second issue, with 'Karin Föster' rather than 'Käthe Guetner' as the girl's name and without the publisher's imprint on the titlepage. INSCRIBED COPY signed by Adams on the titlepage. Also included is a note from a bookseller requesting two signed copies and with a question for Adams, "[our customers] want to know if the text is unadulterated", to which Adams has written "Absolutely, believe me, Richard Adams". Proof copy a little used, the hardbacks in very good clean condition with unclipped dustjackets.
