The proprietor and editor of the International Chess Magazine (1885-1891), one of the best and most interesting magazines, was William Steinitz. All volumes contain deep Steinitz's analysis of chess games from different tournaments and matches. There are many information at different departments: Chess in England, Current Chess News, Personal and General, Games, Games Endings, Endings Studies, Solutions of Problems, Problems, and Answers to Correspondents. It is indispensable to the library alike of player and student.
Volume I publishes leading articles on Morphy, "Paul Morphy and the Play of His Time" (four parts), "Morphy Curiosity", and many other interesting articles and information from different countries. There are 81 full annotated games by Steinitz with many diagrams. Great attention is given to the match Steinitz v. Zukertort.
