Descripción:

- Bigotera con utilización exclusiva para lápiz, de la Segunda Mitad S. XIX.

- Probablemente pertenecería a una caja de compases.

- Tiene la inscripción “Foreign” en la parte interna de uno de los brazos.

- La apertura de la bigotera, o sea, la distancia entre el brazo de aguja y el brazo con el cuerpo de las lengüetas se gradúa mediante una ruedecilla que se enrosca a un bulón roscado, fijado al brazo de la aguja mediante un micro bulón, lo que permite su giro.

- Ésta distancia es la que permite fijar el radio de la circunferencia que se pretende dibujar.

- Se compone de dos partes. Perno y cuerpo de patas articuladas. El Perno fijado al cuerpo de patas, está estriado para mejorar la sujeción. Una de las patas tiene incorporado el mecanismo para fijar la aguja, mientras que la otra tiene incorporado el portaminas.

- Las dos patas son articuladas, permitiendo que los trazos sean perpendiculares al papel.

Conservación y desperfectos:

- Se ha procedido a realizar una limpieza exhaustiva del compás.

- Mantiene una preciosa pátina de la época.

- La calidad de los materiales y fabricación de la bigotera es muy buena.

- El Objeto presenta el desgaste propio de su tiempo.

Comentarios:

- Tanto las Medidas, como el Peso, son aproximados.

- Muy interesante como pieza de colección y como elemento decorativo.

- Los tonos de los colores de las fotos no son iguales a los tonos de los colores reales.

Description:

- Moustache box used exclusively for pencils, from the second half of the 19th century.

- It probably belonged to a compass box.

- It has the inscription 'Foreign' on the inside of one of the arms.

- The opening of the moustache, i.e. the distance between the needle arm and the arm with the body of the reeds, is adjusted by means of a small wheel that is screwed onto a threaded pin fixed to the needle arm by means of a micro-pin, which allows it to be turned.

- This distance is used to set the radius of the circumference to be drawn.

- It is made up of two parts. The pin and the articulated legs body. The bolt fixed to the body of the legs is knurled to improve the grip. One of the legs has a built-in mechanism for fixing the needle, while the other has a built-in mechanical pencil.

- The two legs are hinged, allowing the strokes to be perpendicular to the paper.

Preservation and damage:

- The compass has been thoroughly cleaned.

- It retains a beautiful period patina.

- The quality of the materials and manufacture of the compass is very good.

- The object shows wear and tear typical of it's age.

Comments:

- Measurements and weight are approximate.

- Very interesting as a collector's item and as a decorative element.
