This blues-based UK rock ‘n’ roll quintet was formed in 1989 by Mickey ‘The Vicar’ Ripley (vocals) and Chris John (guitar). Enlisting the services of Mick Young (bass), Paul Guerin (guitar) and Stow (drums), the band signed to Episode Records the following year. They debuted with Wrong Side Of Town, a six-track offering that took the Rolling Stones as its primary influence. The Red Dogs raised their profile by supporting Cheap And Nasty and UFO on their 1991 UK tours. Taking their infectious brand of bar-room boogie to a larger stage initially proved successful, though afterwards they failed to heighten their profile significantly. Ripley departed and formed Josh in 1996.
