Petron is generally thought to be the first English surrealist work of fiction. Hugh Sykes Davies was a young Cambridge student, and then an academic there. He was an editor, with Empson and others, of "Experimente" "Petron" is a curious quest novel with hints of Pilgrim´s progress. Rare, very hard to find.
