The English Satirical Print, 1600-1832. Religion in the Popular Prints 1600 - 1832.

Fine/Very good hardback with dj. Dustjacket slightly rubbed on back, front and top of spine, small tear on back bottom edge. Dark green boards with gold lettering on front and spine. 154 illustrated plates with their description on facing page.  This book is hard to find.

John Miller uses a selection of these prints to illustrate the major religious clashes and controversies of the day, and to suggest that where the prints distorted or misrepresented religious development this was largely because of the market for which they were produced: London-centred and comparatively affluent.
