"Endo Toshikatsu is a sculptor who represents the post-Mono-ha era of Japanese contemporary art.

While critically recognizing the achievements of Minimalism, Conceptualism, and Mono-ha, which radically reexamined the origins of art in the 1960s and 1970s, Endo emerged on the contemporary art scene in the 1980s in an attempt to transcend these boundaries. Since then, he has continued to be an active artist, participating in international exhibitions such as Documenta and the Venice Biennale.

This book is the catalogue for the exhibition "Endo Toshikatsu - Archaeology of the Sacred," organized at the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, to present Endo's current and essential work. It is a catalogue raisonné that includes approximately 500 images of Endo's major works, which he produced over the course of more than 40 years, from 1974 to 2017."
